Pandemonium broke out in the busy Isaac Boro expressway of Yenagoa,
Bayelsa State, as bus carrying soft drinks suddenly exploded and caught
fire around the Five Star Tower Hotel. The incident, which occurred at
about 11.30am on Wednesday, paralyzed all traffic linking the popular Sani Abacha
expressway as many were seen running for their dear life.

The GistPlus gathered that the ill-fated bus, a Mitsubishi 300, filled
with crates of soft drinks and other beverages was approaching the
popular roundabout close to the Five Star Hotel nearing completion when
the unfortunate incident occurred.
The fire triggered panic as some thought it was terrorist attack. The
driver and conductor however escaped unhurt. The driver, who simply gave
his name as Uche said he heard a couple of pops before the entire bus
went up in flame. The incident is now being investigated.
