Weeks
after her crashed marriage, Nollywood actress, Ini Edo, has apparently bounced
back in style. The actress has put her travails behind her and has even
promised her fans that she won’t allow her failed marriage to deprive her of
happiness.
To prove that
further, the Akwa Ibom State-born actress stormed Houston, USA for the just concluded
Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards (GIAMA) which took place at the Stafford
Center in Houston, Texas on Saturday, October 25, 2015.
Coincidentally,
Ini's ex-husband, Philip Ehiagwina lives within the neighbourhood of Houston,
but the star actress didn't seem to give a damn if she might run into him in
the course of touring the town.
Ini and Phillip's
wedding, also took place in the same town on Saturday February 28, 2009, so
they were more chances of the divorced couple running into each other or
perhaps meeting with their old mutual friends.
Nevertheless, the
unshaken actress ceases every moment to post the photos of all her activities
in US on her Instagram page, not minding whose ox is being gored.
Although she has
been receiving tons of criticisms and tongue lashing from disappointed and
concerned fans, Ini insists she had long moved on with her life and would not
want to be dragged into the issue any further. She also said that she had
realised that “every situation does not need a reaction,” apparently responding
to some of the questions being thrown to her by her worried fans.
Ini Edo opens up
Not leaving any
room for speculations, the actress came to the public to declare her side of
the ugly drama.
She
tweeted via @ini4phil, "I asked for a divorce from my my ex-husband
because of lots of irreconcilable differences. I never cheated on my
husband." Ini Edo's response came after allegations of infidelity were
leveled against her.
She continued,
"There is a conscious and malicious attempt at tarnishing my image. This
whole saga is familiar let's not forget de past. Thanks and God bless."
Where it all
started
On how they met,
Phillip opened up in a 2008 interview. "Ini and I met during one of my
visits to Nigeria. I saw many good qualities in her, we clicked and now, the
rest is history," he reveealed.
For the couple, 'it
was simply love at first sight’. The transcontinental distance between the
couple did not affect their relationship. In November 2008, Ini and Phillip
celebrated their traditional wedding ceremony in Ini’s hometown.
On Saturday,
February 28, the lovebirds walked down the aisle at a very colourful ceremony
in Houston, Texas, USA. The ceremony was attended by guests such as Oge Okoye
and Festus Keyamo among others.
