The Gist Plus gathered
It was a scary situation for some students of University of Lagos (UNILAG) who reside in the Madam Tinubu Hall yesterday morning around 3:30am-4am when the first floor of the hall caught fire and injured some students.
One of the students who did not want her name published told LEADERSHIP that the fire occurred around 3:30 to 4am yesterday.
According to her, “I could not explain what caused the fire because I stayed on the third floor when my colleagues from the first floor shouted Fire! Fire!
“We quickly rushed out with the porters on duty to rescue those trapped but even with all our efforts, some who jumped broke their legs; one asthmatic student was choked.
“We thank God because nobody died. I left to church early so I don’t know whether management is aware of it,” she said.
When contacted the management, it denied that nothing of such happened, but two students who slept in the hostel confirmed the incident.
