Rave Musician, Davido Rejects Promoter, Cecil Hammond's Car, Apartment Gift In Move To Sign Him!

Rave musician, David Adeleke (widely known as Davido) has shunned moves by influential music promoter, Cecil Hammond and his Flytime promotions to sign him on.

Sources claim the offer was rejected along with a car and apartment- in Lekki- gift by the Dami Duro singer.

Informants divulged that Davido snubbed Cecil's overtures with the backing of his father's wealth.

His father is billionaire business man, Deji Adeleke, who is the chairman of Keplo-Pacific Energy Pacific. The company is said to have business interest in Banking, steel, power and energy.

Insiders attribute the rejection of the offer to the 19yrs old father's stance 'the package too small for his son to trade away his talent'

Sources confirmed the notable billionaire as the financial muscle behind his son's rising musical success.

Investigations revealed that though hurt by the development - Cecil has taken it in good faith.

The influential music promoter nephew of powerful entertainment personality and politician Ben Bruce is said to be exploring other means of tapping into the commercial success of Davido.

Both Davido and Cecil are said to have put the happenstance aside for mutual professional gains.

'It is something they have decided to treat as just one of those initiative that didn't work out- and should be left in the dust bin of history as part of efforts to move forward' a source confirmed.

WHY TCHIDI DUMPED WIFE

WHY TCHIDI DUMPED WIFE
- Sophia's lies
- Nuella's connection

It is no longer news that Nollywood director, Tchidi Chikere has left his wife of nine years and mother of his three children, Sophia. And it is no news that he is been dating fast rising Nollywood actress, Nuella Njubigbo for a while now. What is news is that the director is now alleged to be pregnant for him. We can authoritatively reveal that the producer is planning to marry his mistress very soon.

Trouble allegedly started between Tchidi and Sophia when Nuella worked with Tchidi on amovie set sometimes last year. And people started feeding Sophia with rumour that her husband was having a hot romance with the rising star.

However, a statement from Tchidi’s publicist made it clear why the couple would be separating. “Tchidi and Sophia have reached this painful decision to split after several break-ups and efforts to make the marriage work failed. The relationship was taking its toll on the children and affecting personal happiness of the couple”, the statement read.

Another reason which insiders claim prompted their breakup was the revelation that Tchidi discovered that his wife was not a student of the University of Lagos where he has been paying her school fees for the past nine years. The revelation was a big blow, especially as she leaves the house every morning for lectures. He thought the course was prolonged because of the motherhood breaks she took to nurse their sons.

MAN DIES AFTER TRYING TO STEAL FROM BURIED CORPSE

A man in his thirties was found dead on Sunday, at a grave site, while attempting to rob a corpse in Jigawa State. Reports say the man was trying to unearth the corpse in an effort to steal some valuables buried with it. The corpse had been buried earlier on Sunday morning. Unluckily for the man, while attempting to carry out the robbery, the earth he was standing on collapsed, trapping half of the man’s body inside the ground. He was said to have died on the spot.

Sympathisers confirmed that he sustained injuries to his head. They reckon it could have been that he hit his head on an object in the grave. Reports say that by the time help arrived, he was already dead. On the contrary, onlookers said it appeared that he had struggled to free himself from the grave site, but could not.

One of the sympathisers said, “An alarm was raised when we heard loud shouts from the graveyard. When we got to the scene we saw his legs flying in the air with his head inside the grave.”

Father and Son impregnates 15-Year-Old

A father and son who had sex with a 15-year-old primary four pupil, resulting in pregnancy, have been sentenced to a total of 44 years in prison.

The Koforidua Circuit Court which handed out the sentence Thursday, gave the father, Daniel Kwaku Danquah, a farmer aged 43, a maximum of 24 years while his son, Moses Danquah, aged 23, a cushion liner, was given 20 years, both with hard labour.

The incident occurred at Nobi, a village near Akyem Tafo in the Eastern Region on different dates in November and December, last year and January, this year.

Both father and son, who were charged with defilement, pleaded guilty before the court presided over by Madam Wilhelmina Hammond.

Presenting the facts of the case to the packed court, the prosecutor, Inspector Patrick Adzadza, said the girl and the convicts lived in the same vicinity at Nobi.

He said sometime in November, 2011, when the girl’s grandmother with whom she was staying left for Somanya, their home town, for a funeral, Kwaku Danquah forcibly had sex with her in her grandmother’s room.

Inspector Adzadza said after the act, Kwaku Danquah warned her not to disclose what happened to anyone else he (Kwaku Danquah) would cause her arrest.

He told the court that in December, 2011, Moses Danquah, son of Kwaku Danquah, also had sex with the girl on three separate occasions in the same room and when he attempted to repeat the act for the fourth time in January, 2012, he detected that the girl was pregnant.

When her grandmother detected that the victim had become pregnant and questioned her, the girl told her that although Kwaku Danquah was responsible for the pregnancy, his son Moses also had sex with her on three occasions.

He said both the father and the son admitted having sex with the girl in their caution statements and that a medical report put the girl’s last menstrual period at October, 2011.

Lady Pours Faeces on Husband Snatcher in Bank

There was commotion at the Akure main branch of the First Bank of Nigeria Plc on Friday afternoon when a young lady, Miss Sade Babatunde, entered the bank with a polythene bag full of faeces packaged in a can and allegedly poured the content on a cashier who was attending to customers.

Our correspondent gathered that Babatunde, who came to Akure from Owo town, went straight to the cashier, Miss Agnes Olasehinde, and accused her of snatching her husband in the presence of other bank workers and customers inside the banking hall.

It was further learnt that Babatunde opened the polythene bag and, before the security guards could stop her, allegedly poured the entire content with its offensive odour on Olasehinde who was neatly dressed in native attire.

The development caused a pandemonium as everybody inside the hall ran towards the electronically controlled door to escape from the stench which had taken over the entire hall.

Babatunde, according to sources within the bank, did not stop at that as she allegedly held Olasehinde and slapped her on the face severally.

Senior officials of the bank were said to have ordered the security personnel attached to the branch to arrest Babatunde while the cleaners took Olasehinde to the toilet and washed her.

The management of the bank later provided a vehicle that took Olasehinde home so that she could clean herself properly and change her clothes.

An employee of the bank, who would not want his name published, described the development as not only an embarrassment to Olasehinde but also to the organisation.

The Police Public Relations Officer at the Ondo State Command, Mr. Aremu Adeniran, however told our correspondent on the telephone that the suspect had been arrested and detained by the police.

“The incident happened around noon on Friday and the suspect who is with us came to Akure from Owo with a can containing smelling faeces which she poured on the banker. She will be charged to court after necessary investigations have been carried out.”

Our correspondent however, gathered that the suspect was not legally married to the man who she accused the banker of snatching from her but that she already had a child for him.

It was further gathered that the man is a driver.

Soldier Batters, Rapes 23 Years Old Girl At Graveyard

Miss Jane Adams, a 23-year-old student of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) is crying for justice. She is seeking help after a soldier serving at Bonny Camp, Lagos allegedly abducted and raped her at a dreaded cemetery within the Ojo Military Cantonment in Lagos.

The victim, who hails from Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, alleged that Lance Corporal Akparuku Clever, on that fateful night, abducted her in his danfo bus, marked LAGOS XY 230 EKY, and forcefully took her to a graveyard inside the Ojo Military Cantonment. There, she recalled, he allegedly pulled a dagger, threatened to injure or kill her and then raped her. It was during her intense struggle with him that she suffered a serious injury on her left eye, she said.

Aside from the alleged rape, Jane also accused the soldier of other diabolical intentions, saying he attempted to insert a charmed ring inside her private part

Controversy Surrounds Death of Single Mother in Lagos

Edith Nwokolo, who resided at 94, Mushin Road, opposite Ire-Akari Road Junction, Isolo, Lagos State, was visited by her estranged lover, Amaechi Uchenna, on February 23 around 10pm.

By 11pm, Nwokolo had died in mysterious circumstances while Uchenna was still in the apartment.

Nwokolo’s family members alleged that the victim was strangled by Uchenna after a failed attempt to rape her.

But the police said the cause of her death had not yet been ascertained as they were still awaiting the autopsy report.

The suspect is being detained at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect, a native of Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, had informed Nwokolo that he was visiting her since they had not seen each other for long.

It was learnt that although Nwokolo, who hailed from Owerri Olubor, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, acceded to his request, she told one of her relations about the proposed visit.

It was learnt that Uchenna and Nwokolo’s romantic relationship soured four years ago when the 40-year-old woman became pregnant for the man.

Uchenna was said to have denied responsibility for the pregnancy but after intervention by their families, he accepted it.

However, Nwokolo’s uncle, Mr. Emmanuel Adukpe, a computer engineer, said when Nwokolo had a baby, Uchenna abandoned her and the child.

He said, “At about 1.30am on February 24, my telephone rang; and when I picked the call, for more than three seconds, there was no response. I thought it was the usual network problem. But when I attempted to cut the line, the caller uttered, ‘it is Uche on the line.’ I now asked, ‘why calling at that ungodly hour?’

“He said Edith (Nwokolo). I asked, what about her? He said, unfortunately, we have lost her. I was jolted because nothing was wrong with her. I did not know what to say again but I picked courage and went further to ask him what happened? He said, he visited Edith and that they had minor argument and she complained of chest pain and later collapsed.

“He said after she collapsed, he carried her and one of her neighbours to the General Hospital, Isolo. When they got there, he claimed that the hospital referred them to a private hospital and that she died on their way to the hospital.

“Then, I suspected something terrible had happened to Edith (Nwokolo). I decided not to be harsh with Uche so that he would not run away. I then thanked him for his efforts and asked him to meet me at the deceased house by 5am the next day. He agreed. Later, I called him to ask him about the corpse. He said he had deposited it in a mortuary.

“By 5am, I was there waiting for him and he arrived with two of his brothers. Then, we reported the case at Okota Police Station and he was arrested along with his brothers.”

Adukpe said after his arrest, the police took him to the mortuary to confirm if the corpse was there but were shocked when a mortuary attendant said Nwokolo’s corpse was not brought to the place.

He said at that point, the suspect started blabbing and confessed that he left the corpse with a private ambulance driver.

Nwokolo’s uncle said when they saw the driver; he told them that Uchenna had asked him to facilitate issuance of a death certificate from a private hospital before taking the corpse to a mortuary.

Adukpe said, “Uchenna told me that Edith (Nwokolo) died on the way to a hospital, but the driver said the hospital demanded death certificate. That was the reason he (the driver) took him and the corpse to his brother’s hospital.

“I have been reliably informed that Uchenna’s brother had confessed that his brother killed her while trying to rape her. When we opened the door, we saw Edith’s pant on the floor as well as Uche’s pair of shoes.”

But the spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba, told our correspondent on the telephone that the case was still being investigated.

He said the autopsy result was not yet out and it was difficult to ascertain whether the deceased was strangled or died from natural causes.

Jaiyeoba said, “The man is being held at SCID, Yaba, Lagos. The case is still being investigated. The result of autopsy is not yet out.

“Preliminary investigation has not given enough evidence to ascertain the cause of death. But I can assure you that the autopsy report will soon be out.”

Raped and Impregnated, Miss Chinelo Is Still A Full Virgin With Hymen Present

A teenage lady whose virginity was said to be intact after being tested positive of pregnancy is in a dilemma. Her story though far from the Biblical narrative of the Virgin Mary, strikes the mind on the possibility of remaining a virgin after she was raped by her own cousin, leaving her hymen intact but resulted in a pregnancy.

Chinelo, a fair-complexioned young lady, darting nervously between the floor and her hands narrated to Saturday Vanguard how her second cousin, Onyeka, put her in the family way. She had gone to her mother’s cousin’s house in Ihiala, Anambra state for her UME exams and had slept on the same bed with her second cousin, Onyeka.

According to her, she woke up late that fateful morning and found herself wet with semen. She asked Onyeka what it meant but he was said to have waved it off as nothing important. Chinelo, naive, accepted his excuse and moved on.

“I woke very late, very dizzy even his mother noticed and asked me whether I was feeling alright that morning. I told her I was okay but when I went to the bathroom, I discovered I was wet but did not feel any pain. I asked him but he smiled and waved it off. I did not disclose to anybody. I just cleaned up.

“I finished my mensuration five days before then. I also wrote my NECO there but left after a week I finished my exams. I went back to Onitsha, and on the 27th of July, I came to Lagos to my sister’s house. There I missed my period. I told her and she advised that we should wait for some days, saying it might be a shift,” Chinelo said.

Chinelo began to notice symptoms of pregnancy after a month. “A month later, I felt sick. My sister and I thought it was malaria. But what later convinced my sister was when I started vomitting. Our neighbour advised we should go to the hospital. My sister obliged and we went to General Hospital, Aguda. They even gave me money for the test.

“It was on Sunday, so the lab personnel did not come. We returned home and went back the following day. A test was conducted and we waited for about 30 minutes. When the result came out, they wrote ‘malaria not seen and pregnancy positive’.

“While waiting, my sister had also taken her sick daughter to see a doctor. I approached a woman sitting close to me to explain the result to me and she looked at me and asked whose result was it, saying it indicates pregnancy. When my sister came, I gave it to her and she asked how come I became pregnant.

“I told her I didn’t know that I didn’t have a boyfriend. She took me to their head nurse who also is a counsellor. She tried to convince me but I maintained my position knowing it was the truth. They decided to take a virginity test on me with the aid of a machine. The result came out and it was confirmed that I am still virgin,” she narrated.

Then the pressure came. The medical team and her sister probed further and Chinelo broke the ice saying: “I remembered the incident in my aunty’s house and I asked whether if someone was wet without making love could result into pregnancy? They asked me who was with me and I told them how I saw myself wet that morning when I woke up. I further told them how I drank the juice and slept off. I did not know what happened again.

The medical team and her sister concluded that pregnancy could occur without a penetrative intercourse since her virginity was intact. But Chinelo maintained she had no idea of how it happened as she suspected she must have been drugged with the juice she was served after dinner.

In a raspy voice pausing briefly and looking down again, she continued, “They asked me to call him (my cousin) and tell him the situation to know his reaction. I did and I threathend I was going to tell everybody what he did if he did not tell me the truth. He pleaded that he would call me back.

Miss Chinelo

He immediately sent a text massage to me, recommending some drugs to terminate the pregancy, asking me to go get it and take it immediately. I called him back asking him if he did not know anything about why he sent such message to me? I later got to know that everybody in the family took him on and he confessed to have done it.

Since then, he stopped picking my calls until last two weeks when I called him accusing him of causing my problem.”

She stated that it was not the first time she would sleep on the same bed with Onyeka but insisted she did not know how he did it.

Chinelo has already gained admission to study Mass communication at Delta State University, Abraka, Delta State but she would have to suspend her quest for further studies pending the delivery of the baby sometime in March 2012, all things being equal.

She however explained that the incident was too painful to contemplate but she had forgiven him, and would relate with him well anytime they meet again. Her words: “Forgiveness is of the Lord. I have already forgiven him. Recently, some people were of the view that I should call him with another number and reign curses on him but I said no.

“So also, when some of my brothers decided to involve the police, my mother objected, saying they should allow the sleeping dog to lie. Even if I see him anywhere I will relate with him well, I have forgiven him,” she said as her words fall over each other in a bid to assemble.

The overwhelmed lady is currently taking refuge at the Tamar Rescue Foundation, Lagos, a non-governmental organisation that sensitizes young girls on the menace of sexual abuse and rape and offers advice to victims and mentors them through lectures, seminars and empowerment programs.

Mrs Ugo Onwuraokoye the founder of the foundation, an Igbo also from Anambra state, said: “In Igboland, such incest is termed as alu (abomination) and I understand the young man who did this is having problems with his business and his whole life, just because this is an abomination. This is incest and because it is an abomination. It has its own curses.”

She disclosed that Chinelo would have to be with her pending the delivery of the baby. “They brought her to me and I have to accept the challenge because that is what my ministry Tamar Rescue Foundation is all about. Her story will teach others some lessons because some don’t know that playing around even without penetration can result into pregnancy because sperm swims.

It is one of the miracles of becoming a pregnant virgin. Her admission is through but she cannot go back to school now untill she delivers the baby. She will be here with us and after the delivery, Tamar Rescue will adopt the baby and she will continue with her studies,” Onwuraokoye said.

According to her: “Everyday a child is being raped. Since I started I have only been able to go 80 schools to sensitize them. Like the case of this girl, it is as a result of sheer ignorance, she didnt know and it occured five days after her menstrual period.

Again, granted that it happened, there is a drug you can take immediately to prevent pregnance and of course sexual transmited diseases within 24 hours. If she had been aware, she would have talked to an adult and immediately, something would have been done would have been done to prevent this situation.

“Right now, she may not understand the full implication, she can’t go to school, her admission is out but she cant go until after she delivers the baby and other distractions that will follow it. By January 10, she will be six months gone in this pregnancy and yet she has not started anti-natal classes because there is no money, they just brought her to me.

And as it is, the parents are trying to be careful because in Igboland, this is an abomination. This is a shame. You see, everyday my heart aches because parents and children are acting in ignorance. I cannot allow my daughter to go to my sister’s house where I know my sister has a grown up son and sleep in the same room. I cant allow that because I am aware.”

She adviced that parents should always teach their children ways of avoiding this vices, adding that some parents want their daughters to look trendy allowing them to wear cloths that expose their bodies, noting that the heart evil men around is thinking a different thing; they are not looking at the young girl as a child but as a woman.

Doctors speak

It’s not possible!— Dr. Akeem Agboola of Life Fountain Clinic, Lagos

We only have one virgin Mary and I don’t know about any other. Girls come here with such claim and by the time you test them, you will discover that it is all lies. For me, until you confirm from the doctor who tested her virginity, I can’t believe the story. If she’s pregnant and claims to have been raped, it means that there was penetration.

I also don’t believe that pregnancy can occur by merely playing around the virgina without penetration because there must have been a penetration before an ****** and the sperm will locate where the cervica opening is and locate where the egg is before there can be pregnancy. In the absence of this, sombody claiming that sperm was splashed on the virgin or something, and resulted in preganacy, I won’t accept that.

Yes! It’s possible — Prof. Oladapo Ashiru of Medical Art Centre, Maryland, Lagos

It is possible. The virgina is not a big passage, it is like a hole and anything can go through, sperm can also go through. If she is at the peak, it is possible without penetration though it requires a little bit of penetration and that also can still leave the hymen unbroken. So, it is possible the hymen is still there.

Dr. Odiboh, an Obsterician said it is possible without penetration but advised that the days of the incident be confirmed and that the tests should conducted again.

One of the doctors at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital who prefered said: “You do not have to have sexual intercourse to be impregnated. Sperm can swim up the v*g*na if they are strong enough. The chances are, of course, much less likely but it’s still possible.

Any time sperm comes into contact with the v*g*na, there is a chance of pregnancy. However, the chance is obviously much larger when the semen is shot into the v*g*na, as opposed to just rubbed on the outside of it. The chances of a girl getting pregnant from a minimal amount of sperm touching the outside of her v*g*na is very slim.”

A further research on the issue revealed that one does not have to get involved into a sexual activity or intercourse, to be precise, for getting pregnant. All that is required is for impregnation is the sperms of a male partner that swim up to the v*g*nal opening and seek entry.

Most sperms are not capable of doing this, since they cannot survive in the atmospheric temperature. But some viable and strong ones do it. Such chances are, of course, slim, yet possible is everything. Also, if there is intentional sexual activity, but without penetration, then the released sperms can find some medium to reach up the female v*g*na and begin to act.

Since, signs of pregnancy are seen in later months after having the impregnating intercourse, there is no way of recognizing that a female has become pregnant without losing her virginity. It is simple. If the ****** of a female’s male sexually partner reaches her v*g*na, though there had no penetration taken place, then she can get pregnant and remain a virgin.

One more reason for appearance of cases of females getting pregnant, without losing their virginity, is the artificial insemination technique. Many females try artificial insemination when their sexual attempts to give birth to a baby are unsuccessful.

Some do it before even trying the intercourse because of fear and pain. If artificial insemination can resut in pregnancy, then it is possible that pregnancy can occur without penetration. Artificial insemination is nothing but injecting a sperm into a female v*g*na.

A sperm can live up to 24 hours after it is ejaculated out of the male body and before it begins its action of hatching the female egg. If, within these 24 hours it reaches inside a female v*g*na and begins its job, then there are quite favorable chances that she would get pregnant, though her virginity is intact. Thus, just being virgin does not guarantee one of a ‘no’ on pregnancy reports. But rather than that, follow the simple rule of never bringing the male genital organs near a female’s, if you really do not want to face an unwanted pregnancy, especially a virgin.

GROWING CASES OF RAPE IN NIGERIA

Rape, the illicit sexual affair with a woman without her consent, usually procured through force or deception, has become a major social issue in Nigeria. Almost on daily basis, cases of rape are reported in the land.

It takes place in high and low places, including schools, homes and worship centres, among others. It has also become widespread that virtually every State of Nigeria has one gory tale or the other to tell about rape.

A few cases will suffice. In March 2010, the Ogun State Police Command paraded a certain Pastor Timothy Adebayo of the Holy Spirit Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ijebu Ode, for allegedly raping a 24-year old lady, Miss Kehinde Olalude. In Osun State, a traditional ruler, the Alowa of Ilowa in Obokun Local Government Area of the State, Oba Adebukola Alli, is standing trial for the alleged rape of a corps member serving in his domain, Miss Helen Opara.

In Zamfara State, a Police Inspector, Abdullahi Ibrahim, was recently dismissed from service after he was found culpable for the rape of a 15- year old girl in Maradum Local Government Area of the State.

In Kano State, a corps member serving in Durumi Secondary School in Kano municipality, was gang-raped by four men in a classroom at noon. The suspects were identified as Abba Garba, Abubakar Suleiman, Nazeeply Malam and Ali Wara.

These are just a few out of the many rape cases that take place in Nigeria almost on daily basis. However, of all this, the recent case of rape which took place at Abia State University appears to be most discussed. In the Abia incident, a lady believed to be a student of the university was gang-raped by five students of the same university who recorded and posted the video on the Internet on August 17, 2011. Online reports say the lady was allegedly raped by Ifeanyi Justin Ogu, Jonah Uche and Zaki, and two others. Also following the Abia university episode, rape videos are now said to be indiscriminately hawked in the streets and on our campuses.

The social menace that rape has become in Nigeria should be of concern to all of us. The rise in the act is not unconnected with the social depravity that has eaten deep into our value system. Absence of healthy psychological growth in a number of men in the land is believed to be playing a major role here. While some are affected by the upside-down nature of their families, others have their imaginations and senses conditioned by alcoholism and drug abuse. We also have an army of psychopaths who have no respect for womanhood. This is especially so in patriarchal societies where women are treated as mere sex objects.

In settings such as these, rape and other deviant attitudes are bound to rear their ugly head. But the real problem here is our attitude to the scourge. Rape is a serious offence in the eyes of the law. Yet, we choose to treat it with secrecy while condemning it glibly. That is why women who fall victim to rapists do not want to speak up for fear of stigmatization. Even members of their families encourage them to cover up the act. But in the face of all this, the affected women are traumatized by the harrowing and dehumanizing experience. While rape breeds frigidity in some women, it drives some others into suicide or frustration.

There is therefore the need for incidents of rape to be discussed so that the perpetrators of the act can be brought to justice. The culture of silence about sex and sexuality should be eschewed so that young boys and girls can feel free to discuss sex and related issues with their parents or guardians. As we strive to create an atmosphere that will help to reduce the incidence of sex, we urge all concerned authorities to treat the cases of rape before them with seriousness. The perpetrators of the act must be brought to justice.

The authorities of Abia State university, for instance, should go after those rapists who have given the institution a bad name. Their action is not only bestial, it is a desecration of everything a university stands for. By their action, they have shown that our universities are no longer training people who will be considered worthy in character and learning. Since the Abia case is supported with video tape, forensic experts and security agencies should delve into the matter.

The cooperation of the rape victim should be solicited. She should be interviewed while the tape is analysed for more information on the rapists. We expect all hands to be on deck so that the criminals do not escape justice. But ultimately, the victim should be rehabilitated by the university.

Growing cases of rape

MAN IN TROUBLE FOR RAPING PREGNANT WOMAN

Detectives in Oyo State are currently investigating the allegation by a 38-year-old pregnant woman, Mrs. Halira Adegoke, that she was raped in a farm, by one of her neighbours, one Francis Etenikang, 32. The incident occurred at Abule Adisa area of the state.

According to the victim, Etenikang had demanded some water from her and after drinking, the suspect grabbed, wrestled her to the ground, stripped and raped her. She explained that all efforts to free herself from the grip of the randy man or get assistance from people, proved abortive.

“I sought for help but none came, as the suspect had his way and escaped on his motorcycle,” she alleged. The case was reported to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) but the officers couldn’t handle it properly, leading to the escape of the suspect. But aggrieved members of Abule Adisa community later reported the matter at the Iwerele Police Station, Oke-Ogun.

Still recalling the sad event, which traumatised her for weeks, she said: “I went to the farm with my husband and he left me in the hut. Suddenly, Francis came to beg for some water and after drinking, he barricaded the entrance to the hut and held me. When he wrestled me to the ground, he tore my pant and clothes.
I told him I was five months pregnant but he ignored and raped me. I started shouting and crying, calling my husband, Baba Iseyin! Baba Iseyin!”

“But before my husband could come, he had sped off on his motorcycle. When he came, he saw me half naked, and rushed me to the hospital for treatment. Thank God I didn’t lose the pregnancy. We reported the matter to the NSCDC but the officers didn’t handle the case very well. A community leader in Abule Adisa later reported the matter to the police,” she said. One of the community leaders, Alhaji Rasheed Badejo, condemned the act, describing the suspect as a beast.

He said: “It sounded ridiculous and unbelievable when we heard the news. We had to report the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of Etenikang. The community wants justice to be done.” The victim’s husband, Mr. Afonja Adegoke, confirmed the incident and said the suspect was one of his neighbours.
“We live together in this village. My wife and I came to the farm and she prepared a meal for me, which I ate and went to work, before I heard her, shouting. I saw my wife on the ground, half naked. He tore her clothes, including pant. I was mad and started searching for Etenikang but I found out that he had sped off on his motorcycle,” he added.

The suspect, who is being interrogated at State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), also admitted being the victim’s neighbour. He, however, denied the allegation. Etenikang said: “I was thirsty and requested water from Halira. She gave it to me and after drinking, I went away on my bike, that was all. I was later invited by the NSCDC. The officers discontinued the case, and it was reported to the police, leading to my arrest.”

It was alleged that I raped Halira, who was five months pregnant, but I didn’t touch her. I have my own four children in Cross River State. I don’t know what she is talking about.” The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Okanlawon, said the victim was actually raped. Okanlawon described the incident as unfortunate. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Moses Onireti, said the suspect would appear in court at the conclusion of investigation.

CAN FATE BE MORE CRUEL!

•Born to deaf and dumb mum
•Abandoned at birth by dad
•Orphaned at 3 months
•Crippled at 13
•Now needs N5m to walk again

-------------------------------------------------

Her case is quite pathetic. Her mum, Toyin Oladubu, a deaf and dumb woman, was impregnated by a callous man who thereafter abandoned the lady and took a walk. Three months after she was delivered of her baby, Toyin, Omolara’s mum, met her demise.

Indeed, while life treats some people graciously and lavishes them with good fortunes, it dishes out terrible blows to others, making them victims of tragic circumstances beyond their control. Poor Omolara Oladubu, 14, belongs to the latter category.

She became motherless when she was just a tot, a three-month-old. That was when her mother died, leaving her in the fragile hands of her weak and old maternal grandmother, Madam Comfort Oladubu. Till date, Omolara bears her maternal surname, Oladubu. Her father, alleged to have deserted her mother while she was still in the womb, has never been found, not to talk of being responsible for her upkeep.

Madam Oladubu, a septuagenarian, has been the one taking care of Omolara since she lost her mother in 1996. And the old woman has done quite a lot for the young girl. She has always ensured that the girl is well fed and clothed, just as she made sure that Omolara has had the best of education that she could afford, from primary to secondary school.

But then the unexpected happened. Omolara was in Basic 7 when a strange illness gripped her. According to her grandma, the girl had one day suddenly complained of a sharp pain in her left leg. Although there was no visible wound on the leg but she was groaning profusely as the pain in her leg ravaged her entire body.

The situation unexpectedly grew worse shortly after her complaints as the leg in question became swollen from the knee to the ankle. She was rushed to the hospital thereafter, and a quick x-tray was conducted on the leg. A diagnosis later revealed that she had a medical condition known as acute osteomyelitis.
Incidentally, that later turned out to be the beginning of her trauma as a myriad of health hazards soon followed.

Fighting back tears, Madam Oladubu told Daily Sun about the many steps she took to save her granddaughter. Hear her: “After the diagnosis that Omolara is having osteomyelitis, we immediately took her to a private specialist hospital at Ijanikin area of Lagos. The consultant orthopaedic surgeon there said that Omolara would be admitted and placed on anti-biotic therapy for three weeks. But she ended up spending more than five months in the hospital and her condition was getting worse. This was even after she had undergone four surgeries. Her leg was incised to drain the pus collected therein and the resultant wound refused to heal despite series of treatments carried out on it.

“I had to request that she be discharged from the hospital and I arranged for her to be moved to another hospital in Yaba where it was diagnosed that she was also having a pathological fracture of the left tibia in addition to the wound in the leg. Raising our hope that all would soon be well, the doctor in charge made Omolara to pass through another round of three surgeries that lasted for three months after which she was discharged and placed on follow-up as an outpatient till March 2010.”

Did her condition improve? Certainly not, said her grandmother. Madam Oladubu looked sad as she replied. “No,” she said, wiping off the tears streaming down her wrinkled cheeks. A distraught Madam Oladubu continued: “At that juncture, we felt that her condition deserved a more drastic approach and we took her to the National Orthopaedic Hospital (NOH), in Igbobi in March 2010. Initially, she was attended to by Dr. Adebule who referred her to one Dr. Idowu. Dr. Idowu did his best to arrest the virus eating up her leg to no avail. Her leg was already becoming short as the virus was eating up the bones fast. She had also become crippled on the leg.

“Omolara spent four months at the NOH before she was again moved to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital, Ojo where she again underwent two surgeries within two months of her admission. The last operation done by her doctor, Dr. Omale, also a Naval Commodore, appeared to be yielding positive results. It was a major operation where a bone shaft was transported from the left leg fibula and attached to the left tibia by using the papinaeu method. But no sooner was the operation done than the doctor was transferred to Warri and that hampered the effective follow-up required.”

It has been eighteen months of agonizing pain for Omolara now as her leg’s condition continues to deteriorate. She has since been out of school and would continue to be if something is not done fast. A ray of hope came recently when her family consulted an Indian consultant Orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Sanjay Vashi, via the internet, who assured that Omolara’s travails would be over as soon as she’s flown to his hospital, Hiranandani Fortis, in Mumbai, Indian, for a comprehensive surgery.

But there’s a snag; the surgery would cost a whooping N5 million. According to Omolara’s grandmother, the cost covers the surgeries, drugs, medical investigations, admission fees and travel arrangements, among others. The old woman is appealing to well-meaning Nigerians to assist her granddaughter to live and walk again. Omolara’s account details with Wema Bank are: Oladubu Omolara Oluwatobi, with account number 1322125625917. Madam Oladubu can be reached at 08028837057.

We’ve often known them to be loving, caring and soft.

But, according to what Nollywoodgossip learned about a big budget movie being cooked at the moment, Nigerians are about to see the tough sides of Nollywood actresses Eucharia Anunobi and Ngozi Ezeonu.

While we’ve seen a bit of toughness from Eucharia Anunobi in the past, we can’t wait to see Ngozi playing a tough role.
